EVERYTHING ABOUT DENTAL CLEANINGS & EXAMS

Your twice-yearly reset for healthy gums and enamel

Routine cleanings and exams help prevent cavities and gum disease, catch small issues early, and keep your smile feeling fresh. We make visits comfortable, clear, and tailored to you—one patient at a time.

What happens at your visit

We start with a friendly check-in and a conversation about your goals. Your hygienist gently removes plaque and tartar (often with ultrasonic cleaning), polishes for a smooth finish, and reviews home-care tips that fit your routine. The dentist completes a thorough exam and discusses any recommendations in plain language.

Good fit if you want to:

Prevent problems rather than fix them later

Get a clear picture of your gum and enamel health

Keep stains and buildup in check between visits

Deep cleaning vs. routine cleaning

If gum measurements and X-rays show active gum disease, we may recommend scaling and root planing (a “deep cleaning”). We’ll explain why, outline comfort options, and plan a maintenance schedule that fits you.

X-rays & screening

Digital X-rays are taken only when helpful for diagnosis or prevention (many patients need bitewings about every 12–24 months). Each visit also includes an oral cancer screening and a check of your bite, restorations, and gum health.

Kids, teens, and adults

We tailor visits by age and risk—building good habits for kids, protecting sports smiles with mouth guards, and watching for wear, dry mouth, or gum changes in adults and seniors.

Aftercare

  • Brush twice daily and floss once a day
  • Sip water often and limit frequent sugary snacks
  • If gums feel tender, a warm salt-water rinse can help
  • Ask about fluoride or sealants if you’re cavity-prone

Costs & financing

We’ll review a clear estimate before treatment. Our procedures are often elective; flexible financing is available through CareCredit® and LendingClub®.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers. If you can not find the answer you're looking for please reach out to us, we will gladly provide you with the answers you need.

How often should I come in?

Most patients do well with every 6 months; higher-risk smiles may benefit from more frequent visits.

Are digital X-rays safe?

Yes. They use significantly less radiation than film, and we take them only when needed.

Will it hurt?

Cleanings are gentle. If an area is sensitive, we’ll adjust techniques—and can use local comfort options when appropriate.

Can I whiten the same day?

Often yes. Many patients clean first, then whiten for the best result. We’ll help time it right.

What if it’s been years since my last cleaning?

You’re welcome here. We’ll start where you are and create a step-by-step plan—no judgment.

Is fluoride just for kids?

Adults at higher cavity risk benefit too. We’ll recommend it if it makes sense for you.

Will insurance cover this?

Many plans include preventive benefits. We’ll provide a clear estimate before treatment and offer flexible financing options.
